This year, NeoCon 2016 was held from 13 –15 June in Chicago, Illinois, United States, at the renowned Merchandise Mart. This North American tradeshow is one of the most well-known and attended in the industry. We are glad to announce that Steelcase won five Best of NeoCon awards in the annual competition sponsored by Contract Magazine – honouring the Steelcase, turnstone and Designtex brands.
More than 40 interior designers, architects and facility managers juried over 350 products presented this year. Steelcase won a Gold award for High Density Storage and a Silver award for a technology solution currently under development called Steelcase Workplace Advisor, to name a couple.
The Steelcase showroom specifically emphasised engagement, building on our research illustrated in the Global Workplace Report. Our showroom and recent research conveys how high performance spaces that support engagement and wellbeing improve worker satisfaction and productivity. When thoughtfully curated, these destinations can blend design, materiality and performance to meet user needs, offer choice and control, impact workplace culture, innovation, and much more.
“We understand, and our spaces will demonstrate, the desire for new materiality and an informal aesthetic, but to really be meaningful to people, the environment still needs to work. It has to perform. And that’s our competitive advantage. It’s relevant and authentic to who we are today and have always been,” said Gale Moutrey, vice president Steelcase Global Brand Communications.
We also shared how Steelcase pursues its strong research and investments on Smart + Connected technology – as we believe this is part of our future and can really make an impact with customers.
Most of these tech solutions, such as Steelcase Workplace Advisor, enable data collection about space occupancy and usage so customers can understand meaningful insights about how their people work and how place can help.
Additionally, the Steelcase Personal Assistant App allows people to book a room on a smartphone, helping users find the perfect space to work. The app shows real-time availability and allows for reservations on-demand – though this product is still in an early development phase.
NeoCon is always an opportunity to spotlight our latest product innovations – the “Best of” awards make the experience even brighter.
